At Diamond K Farms, doing things right and doing them for the long haul are the same idea. We grow premium potatoes for some of the country's major processors, and we've earned those partnerships the hard way: through precision agronomy, careful attention to detail, and a genuine respect for the ground we work. We use reduced tillage and residue management to keep our sandy soil where it belongs. Innovation and stewardship aren't at odds here; they're how we produce high-quality crops while caring for the land for the generations still to come.
That commitment runs five generations deep. What started with dryland farming and a few head of cattle grew over the years into the thriving potato operation we run today across fields spread throughout southern Idaho. Some of our processor relationships go back more than thirty years, and we're just as proud of the harvest crews who come back to us season after season. When Lee and Judy started easing toward retirement, they couldn't stay away, so they set up a kitchen in the shop and now cook a home-made meal for the whole crew every day through harvest. None of what we do happens by accident; it's simply how a family builds something meant to last.

Nutrient Management
Nutrient management matches fertilizer and compost applications to crop needs based on soil tests and realistic yield goals. By checking our soil and matching what we put down to what each crop actually calls for, we give our plants exactly what they need. That means healthier potatoes, less waste, cleaner water, and soil that stays strong for the next season and the next generation.
Reduced Till
Reduced tillage limits the amount and intensity of soil disturbance while maintaining protective crop residue on the soil surface. Our ground is sandy, and once the topsoil blows away, it's gone for good. We work our fields just enough to get the job done, and no more. Leaving a crop residue on top holds the soil in place, keeps the moisture in, and builds healthier ground year after year.
